The library closed for a week in September to undergo a refurbishment and reopened to the public on September 20.
Library manager Jenny Campbell said the former space was “old-fashioned” and “not welcoming”.
“It felt very closed an cluttered,” she said.
The library now has updated computers, new furnishings, portable shelving and a smaller, modern borrowing desk.
Ms Campbell said the old borrowing desk took up a third of the room, and the shelving was fixed, limiting the ability to run different activities.
“We’re hoping with more flexible space we will be able to offer more programs than we have in the past,” Ms Campbell said.
“If we have a town meeting in here or want to show a movie, we can move the shelving back and make a space.”
Ms Campbell is happy with the result and said “it’s much better than it was before”.
“We’re just hoping more people will come in and use the service,” she said.
The Boggabri Library is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10.30am-4.30pm.
