Police were on the hunt for 41-year-old Robert Glover after he escaped from a minimum-security correctional facility in Muswellbrook at 6am on Wednesday.
Glover was arrested in a car park on Byng Street in Orange at 7am this morning, more than 24 hours after his escape.
Following a full-scale search, police say they arrested Glover without incident after reports he had been sighted in Orange.

Police believed Glover may have been heading toward the Gunnedah region following his escape, but it is now believed news of his escape deterred him from doing so.
After his arrest, the 41-year-old was taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with inmate escape-attempt to escape from lawful custody.
He was refused bail and is set to appear in Orange Local Court later today.
