A RECENT spate of thefts throughout the Gunnedah shire has prompted fresh calls for diligence from police.

Police are currently investigating four thefts spanning from September 27 to October 9 which have seen a variety of items such as tools, bicycles and a CD player stolen.
The first incident involved a bicycle stolen from an Elgin Street property between 5pm on September 27 and 6am October 2.
Another bicycle was later stolen from a Pritchard Street home sometime during the night of October 7.
In the early hours of October 8 police were called to an attempted theft from a Beluah Street property after reports the residents had disturbed the offenders while attempting to steal car keys.

This incident was followed by a theft from a parked ute on Quia Road between 5pm on October 4 and 6am October 9 with tools, a UHF radio and a CD player stolen.
Oxley Police Inspector Michael Wurth said police were working hard to catch those responsible for the offences.
“Rest assured police are looking into these recent matters,” Inspector Wurth said.
“We are calling on the public to come forward with any information regarding any of these incidents and we will work towards catching up with those responsible.
“We are also reminding residents to take full security measures and ensure that all of their property is properly secured.”
