Four new garden beds have been established at the front of the station, with natives including flowering gums, grevilleas and bottle trees. Sydney Trains officer Paul Davies said the plants were purchased locally by Sydney Trains. A new watering system, seats and planter pots were also installed.
The project is the result of a partnership between Gunnedah TAFE, Gunnedah Shire Council, Gunnedah Urban Landcare Group and Sydney Trains.
Partipicating parties gathered at the station on Wednesday to admire the finished project and share in morning tea.
Railway station manager Karen Neader said the station was popular for debutante photos and in time, the garden could be an asset.
“It was a really great effort put in by different community groups that came together to complete the project,” she said.
