The fun will start at 8.30am on Saturday, with a water slide, fashion parade, train rides, putt putt golf and craft. There will also be flower, photo and colouring-in competitions, and a kids corner. 

NSW Fire and Rescue and the SES will host a demonstration at 10.30am, followed by a fashion parade at 11am, featuring Hassab’s Fashions spring stock. At 11.45am, the “Rainmaker” Dance Boss competition will start, with a number of schools and community groups set to perform. The winner can choose a charity to receive the $200 prize.

On the day of the festival, Ooranga Boggabri Preschool will hold a silent auction in The Art Shed for a painting donated by Boggabri artist Tammey McAllan whose work will also feature in The Art Shed’s new exhibition, The Sisterhood of the Couch-surfing Canvas.

There will be plenty of stalls with goodies, including jewellery, baby clothes, Scentsy, reclaimed metal art work, cakes, patchwork, relish and chutneys, Men’s Shed items, homemade items, craft, plants and ornaments.

Food stalls will offer hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, donuts, fairy floss, stuffed spuds and Nelson’s honey, and Sacred Heart School will cook up a gourmet barbecue.

The Merton Street CBD will be closed to traffic for the duration of the fair and festival but all the shops will be open on the day. 

The event is run by the Boggabri Business and Community Progress Association and member Donna Turner said any funds raised will go to drought-stricken farmers, and the water slide and jumping castle will be free.

“We’re trying to make it a family fun day for kids to come in off the farm,” she said.

A lucky shopper draw will be held every hour with four draws of $50 and the major draw  at 1.30pm with $200 up-for-grabs. To win, the shoppers must be at the festival.
