Total fire ban declared across eight regions including Tamworth and Moree for Saturday, September 15

The weekend is going to be a mixed bag on the weather front.

The Bureau of Meteorology is monitoring a system which it says “is likely to deliver a weekend of variable and potentially dangerous weather to New South Wales and the ACT”.

The strong cold front is expected to trigger elevated Fire Dangers (including severe) in parts of NSW and lead to significantly above average temperatures for this time of the year for parts of the north and east of the state.

Temperatures for Tamworth are forecast to reach a high of 30 degrees on Saturday.

While on Sunday temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with a top of just 18 forecast for Tamworth.

Eight areas have total fire bans in place for Saturday including; Northern Slopes – Gunnedah, Gwydir, Inverell, Liverpool Plains, Tamworth and North Western – Moree Plains, Narrabri, Walgett, Warrumbungle.
