The annual event is hosted by Gunnedah Family Support – Home Base in recognition of National Child Protection Week.
A number of community groups were present including HealthWise, Gunnedah Family Support, Family Referral Service and Paint the Town REaD.
Children from pre-schools, daycare centres and schools took turns at activity stations, which had balloons, play dough, craft, storytelling and games.
The Rotary Club of Gunnedah was busy on the barbecues, with hungry hordes lining up for a sausage sanga.
The picnic has been run for eight years and aims to raises awareness of the need to value children and build strong communities to keep children safe and well.
National Child Protection Week starts off on Father’s Day each year.
