The club has been actively involved in local drought support fundraisers by playing a pivotal role in recent auctions and charity market days.

Now, locals can support other locals through the club through the club's Gunnedah Drought Relief Project.

Rotary Club of Gunnedah 2380 president Stacey Cooke said money raised during recent local fundraisers would go to the project.

“We have registered our very own Gunnedah Drought Relief Project with Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS),” Mrs Cooke said.

“All the money raised so far from individual donations, the fundraiser night at the Court House, the charity market day and dress like a farmer day at St Xaviers will go to the project.

“As well as the funds raised, the project will receive an additional $15,000 from Rotary Benevolent Society.”

Mrs Cooke said all of the funds raised will be “kept local.”

“A committee, of local people, including non-Rotarians, has been formed and has met and will continue to meet and discuss the distribution of these funds,” she said.

“Our aim is to help as any farmers as we can by helping them buy food, water, petrol, medicine and as many essential farm and day-to-day needs as possible in the form of vouchers or financial assistance.
