Based at 44 Conadilly Street, the group will now be able to distribute donated goods more quickly and cost-effectively throughout the region.

Aussie Helpers team member Dave Moon told Fairfax Media the organisation would be with local farmers for the “long haul”.

“We have signed a six-month lease with an option to extend that by another six months,” Mr Moon said.

“This site will enable us to do what we can for the region’s farmers who are doing it a bit tough at the moment.”

Mr Moon said the new facility would also be a drop-off point for donated goods.

“People are more than welcome to come and drop off any donations here,” he said.

“It will take us a little while to get everything we need set up, but after we are set up we will begin to survey local farmers in need to see what their needs are and go from there.

“As well as that, we will also be installing a coolroom to also allow for donated perishable goods as well as non-perishable goods.”

The long-time Aussie Helpers member said any donations of goods or fodder would always be welcome.

“At the moment we are facing a little bit of donor fatigue and by that I mean, like most people, fodder is becoming harder to find,” he said.

“But we do still have some up our sleeve and it has been good to see so much being donated, from pet food to potable water. There has been plenty coming in.”
