Sixty teams will take part in the carnival on Sunday which not only is the association’s major fundraiser for the year but also allows the Gunnedah players to mix things up and challenge themselves.
“The good thing about the gala day is you don’t have to play with your Saturday team. They can play with their friends and different kids than they usually do,” GDSA president Simon Gainsford said.
“We get a lot of sides that aren’t from Gunnedah. There’s teams from Coonabarabran, Narrabri and a number of teams from Tamworth.
“We find it’s a very good competition and with the out of town teams, it’s great for our kids to play against those different players.”
The days kicks off at 9am with a barbecue running all day.
Ages range from the 5s and 6s right through to the 14s.
The games are played in a six-a-side format with the kids to play on smaller fields than usual.
