AFTER 10 years of being so close, yet so far, Whitehaven Coal’s Narrabri underground mine rescue team has taken out the 2018 Hunter Valley Underground Mines Rescue Competition.

Hunter Valley Mines Rescue regional manager, David Connell said the Narrabri rescue team should be congratulated on their performance.
“The team’s victory was by no means an easy feat,” Mr Connell said.
“The hard work they have put in over the last few years has paid off.
“This is a win, not only for Narrabri, but for Whitehaven. It is a testament to the investment they are putting in to build a high level of capability in mines rescue and emergency preparedness.”
