The overwhelming desire to help in anyway they could drove the young family to take to the kitchen and work together in baking sweet treats.

Nadine Tennant said her family would sell the baked goods and pass on all of the proceeds to those impacted by the drought.

“We were looking for a way to help,” Mrs Tennant said.

“As a family we love being in the kitchen and we came up with this idea to help bring some funds to those who need it.”

Mrs Tennant said the drought had impacted heavily on the whole family.

“I think everyone knows someone doing it tough at the moment,” she said.

“For us it’s not so bad, but I know several people who are doing it tough for sure.

“The kids have seen it on television and in their day-to-day lives.

“I’m actually a little surprised at the impact it’s had on them.

“They have really been the drivers of wanting to help.”

The Gunnedah mum said people could order a variety of baked treats.

“We have been baking plenty of lovely stuff,” she said.

“Things like, cupcakes, choc-chip muffins and banana bread have been pretty popular so far.

“We are doing our first deliveries into Gunnedah and Boggabri this weekend and will do a second trip the following weekend as well.

“While everything is baked in our kitchen, I do have a food safety certificate to ensure everything is made properly and with love.”

Mrs Tennant said the family would make sure the funds raised went to support local farming families.

“At the moment we are in the process of setting up a fundraising system that ensures all of the donations stay local,” she said.

“As well as that, we are looking to also set up a stall somewhere down the line to give people a chance to buy in person.”
