“The kids were absolutely pumped. They were jumping out of their skins,” Auskick co-ordinator Hamish Russell said.
The Gunnedah players teamed up with Tamworth footballers to take on a composite team from Narrabri and Armidale. The kids gave it their all and Russell noted a couple top performers.
”Best on ground was Liam Naismith. He kicked the opening goal of the match after a stunning run where he had a few bounces,” Russell said.
“The player’s player was Ruby Russell who was strong in defence and also took some very competitive marks.”
The Auskick program ran for four weeks this year through May and June.
Russell said there was a massive amount interest and he hoped to run a “bigger and better” program in 2019.
