There are plenty of new things happening at the Gunnedah Shire Library in August.
Knit and Natter, Colour and Chatter is a new program that will be launched during Local Government Week on Saturday, August 4 at 10am in the library.
People of all ages are welcome to come into the library for the program and enjoy some creative and social time doing their handicrafts or relaxing with some colouring-in. Handcrafters can work on their own projects or for items for charity; they will need to bring their own supplies.
The library will supply colouring-in sheets and community art books, as well as colouring pencils, crayons and texta colours. Tea and coffee will be available.
On the same day, Olwyn Jones from the Gunnedah Group of the NSW Embroiders’ Guild will be on hand at the launch to teach the joys of knitting to participants. It’s a free session and no bookings are required. All are welcome – just drop in for as long as you like from 9.30am to 12.30pm each Saturday.
On Wednesday, August 1, the library will be launching its new eResources platform: RBdigital. Library members can download the app and have access to hundreds of magazine titles and books in either electronic or audio format for multiple devices at their fingertips. You will be able to have books and magazines wherever you go.

To have access to the eResources you need to be a member of the library, so make sure you come along and join up. Ask the library staff for help in setting up your account so you can start accessing this digital library with its great range of titles.
Drought relief
We all know that the farmers are suffering due to the drought conditions. There is now a collection box in the library for people to add donated items to, such as non-perishable foods and household necessities. The donation drive will run until August 10 and the items will then be distributed to our farmers in need.
So if you would like to contribute to people in need, please check the list of requirements and drop your contribution into the box.
See you soon at the library!
