Police carried out walk throughs of every licensed pub or club in Gunnedah during the weekend operation, with officers checking patrons for drugs and publicans for liquor licensing infringements.
A police spokesperson told the Namoi Valley Independent locals were “well-behaved” over the weekend.
“It was really good to see nothing come up during the operation,” the spokesperson said.
“All of the licensed premises in town were checked during the visit, everyone was very well-behaved and there were no hits in terms of finding anything which was good to see.”
The spokesperson said officers from other stations helped carry out the operation.
“So the operation was locally run in conjunction with the dog squad from Port Macquarie,” the spokesperson said.
“We also had some help from our Tambar Springs and Manilla officers as well.”

The operation was carried out on the night of the annual Wean Amateur Picnic Races which saw crowds of locals attend and head to local pubs afterwards to continue the celebrations.
“We were very happy with how well everyone was behaved after the races,” the spokesperson said.
“In previous years we have had some issues following the races but it was good to see not only were patrons well behaved but publicans were very closely following liquor licensing laws.
“Overall, the operation was a great success in our book.”
