CINEMA ticket prices and a house in koala habitat will be on the agenda at Gunnedah Shire Council’s July meeting tonight.
The development of a new private residence in the shire’s core koala area will be one of the items discussed.
Councillors will review an application for the demolition of a house on Curlewis Common Road and the construction of a new one.
Stewart Surveys has reviewed the application and formed a koala plan of management (KPoM) to ensure the proposed works has the least possible impact on the local koala population.
After discussion, councillors will then vote on whether to endorse the koala plan of management with a decision to be made on the overall application at a later date.

The council received the application for the proposed development earlier this year.
“Council received development application No. 2018/043 on May 30, for the demolition of the existing dwelling house and construction of a new dwelling house,” the papers said.
“The development application No. 2018/043 is yet to be determined as the KPoM is to be endorsed by council and the Department of Planning prior to the determination of the development application.”
Cinema prices
Councillors will also vote to approve reverting The Civic Theatre’s pricing structure back to its 2017/18 form.
The vote comes after proposed changes to the theatre’s 2018/19 pricing structure were passed at May’s council meeting but have caused unforeseen issues in the months since.
The council’s meeting papers said issues caused by May’s price increases had been cash handling issues for staff, “unsatisfying experiences” for patrons and an increase in the amount of change given in cash transactions.
“Given the issues the error has created, it is recommended that for 2018/19, the fees and charges for the Civic revert to the 2017/18 fees,” the papers said.
If passed the changes will see the cost of adult movie tickets drop from $15.45 back to $15 and children’s tickets drop from $11.35 to $11.
Other services like laptop rental will also see a drop in price as the daily cost of rental will fall from $15.45 to $15.
July’s meeting will kick off in Gunnedah Shire Council’s chamber from 4.30pm on Wednesday.
