More than 650 community members attended the celebration, which acknowledged the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
LPSC deputy mayor Doug Hawkins said he recognised the significant role Aboriginal people played in the local community and the importance of their culture.
Numerous girls and women marched in honour of their mothers, elders, grandmothers, aunties, sisters and daughters in keeping with this year’s theme of ‘Because of her, we can’.
Guest speakers pointed out that many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have fought and continue to fight, for justice, equal rights, rights to country, for law and justice, access to education, employment and to maintain and celebrate their culture, language, music and art.
