Hosted by the Gunnedah and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the awards are designed to acknowledge the outstanding work and service by local businesses.

Chamber president Stacey Cooke told the Namoi Valley Independent nominations had already begun to flow in.

“We have had some nominations for the awards already but we would love to see a lot more,” Mrs Cooke said.

"These awards are a really important way of honouring the good work done by businesses in the Gunnedah district, so if anyone is thinking of nominating someone we want to encourage them to do that.”

Mrs Cooke said the awards also allowed for employees to be recognised.

“Being service awards as well, it’s a great way of highlighting someone for great customer service,” she said.

“It doesn’t have to be an employer nominating either, it can be from a member of the public who has had a great experience and wants to show their appreciation.

“The chamber is also available to help people with nominations if they need it.”

The chamber president said the group was also on the lookout for sponsors of the event.

“We have had some sponsors come on-board already, but we would always love to see more,” Mrs Cooke said.

“At this stage, tickets for the awards ceremony on August 10 are available and it is really shaping up to be a great night.

“It will be a cocktail event with canapes, BYO drinks and there will be a band, so it really will be a great night.”

Nominations for the awards close at 5pm on July 20, with finalists to be announced by independent judges from the NSW Business Chamber on August 1 the Gunnedah Town Hall.
