To extend the collection and add many more titles to the shelves, the library no longer doubles up on large print and normal print titles. If you have a favourite author in the normal print collection, head over and check out the large prints – you might be pleasantly surprised at the range of titles there.
Among the large print books added to the collection are the latest Inspector McLevy mystery Fall from Grace by David Ashton, Detonator by Andy McNab, described as being “like the best action films in book form”, and (Murder on) the Riviera Express by T. P. Fielden.
Other books include We Shall Fight on the Beaches: The speeches that inspired history compiled by Jacob F. Field. The book includes speeches dating from 431 BC, and has, as well as the text of the speech, a short summary outlining the consequences.
For the parents of youngsters, there’s Why Do I Have to Say Please and Thank You: Big issues for little people about behavior and manners by Dr. Emma Waddington and Dr. Christopher McCurry. The book includes notes to parents as well as questions to ask children.
And for those who have grappled with the mysteries of Shakespeare’s plays, the Oxford Companion to Shakespeare, edited by Michael Dobson and Stanley Wells should help. The book has information on all the plays, and includes black and white photos.
As well as reading, there’s plenty to do at the library.
For events at the library, come on in and check out the events calendar on the noticeboard.
