“The Boundary Road and Oxley Highway intersection will be upgraded to improve traffic flow and safety for all road users,” a Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) spokesperson said.

“Detailed design is nearing completion and work is planned to start later this year. The project is expected to take about six months to complete.”

In late 2017, Gunnedah mayor Jamie Chaffey said the project would help ease congestion at peak times and move traffic through the intersection more effectively.

A 700-metre section of the Oxley Highway between the Kamilaroi Highway intersection and Boundary Road was resurfaced in late December.
