The Gunnedah centre applied for the NSW Government’s NAIDOC Week Grants and was successful.
“This is great news as NAIDOC Week is an important opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the tremendous achievements of Aboriginal people here in Tamworth and Gunnedah and all across the state,” Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said.
“The grant to Winanga-Li in Gunnedah will assist the community in gathering to observe the value of indigenous heritage and promote sharing of culture from 9 to 15 July,” Mr Anderson concluded.
Minister for Aboriginal Affairs Sarah Mitchell said “I am pleased to support the recognition and celebration of Aboriginal women under the NAIDOC Week theme for 2018 and also to recognise the contribution and achievements of Aboriginal communities right across the state”.
“I am very much looking forward to NAIDOC Week and all of the celebrations across the state and I am particularly excited for this year’s theme, ‘Because of her, we can!’,” she said.
