The music section of the Gunnedah Eisteddfod continued on Thursday afternoon with vocals.
The vocals subsection drew singers from both Gunnedah and Tamworth.
Adjudicator Luke Byrne said the entrants made “lovely choices” and emphasised the importance of repertoire selection.
“There’s a lot to be said for choosing appropriate repertoire,” he said.
“Repertoire selection is 90 per cent of the work.”
Following the section for Song for Stage Show or Film, Mr Byrne said he was focusing on both vocals and expression.
“In musical theatre, it’s really so much about the text and what comes through the music from the text,” he told the entrants.
“You’ve got to focus in on the key of the text.”
Sara Dear, Carter Cameron, Christopher Whalley and Caitlin Hutchison were chosen to sing on Saturday.
