The representatives will meet with local exporters at a conference hosted by NSW Trade and Investment, Namoi Unlimited Joint Organisation (JO) and their member councils and will discuss potential trade opportunities.
Gunnedah mayor and Namoi Unlimited JO chair, Jamie Chaffey said the meeting would be a major boost for local businesses.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for local businesses already involved in exporting to meet with NSW Trade and Investment overseas officers to discuss their current trading markets and future opportunities,” Cr Chaffey said.
“In 2015, Namoi Unlimited undertook some work with the Regional Australia Institute to identify levers to grow the regions economy.
“That work told us that, engaging in international markets for agricultural innovators could potentially grow the economy by $900 million by 2030.
“On the back of establishing a key relationship with the Agricultural Bureau of Ningbo in China, member councils of Namoi Unlimited are facilitating opportunities for business to do business in these key export markets for Australia.
“Australia has Free Trade Agreements with China, Japan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, US, Chile, the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) (with New Zealand) and Malaysia, these are agreements to open access to markets for goods, services and investment.
“An FTA between a participating country and Australia seeks to open up opportunities for exporters to expand their business, to have these representatives in our region is an extraordinary opportunity for our producers.”

Cr Chaffey encouraged any local business already exporting to attend the meeting.
“Representatives from China, Japan and Korea will visit a couple of export operations and then spend time talking to exporters about their current or next market opportunities,” he said.
“If you are exporting into these markets and looking to expand across this network then you should be contacting us to attend this event.”
