The ladies turned up, pretty in pink for the Tee off For Cancer Trials event, only to be greeted by perfect conditions for a cracking 18 holes of golf.

Ladies president Coral Lorimer said that while the event is always a good day with some great golf, it was also a top opportunity to host a social event for an important cause.

“We always make it a fun day, and it is great to see the community getting involved in such an important cause,” she said.

“This is the best turnout I can ever remember, and we also have eight new members which is great to see.” 

The perfect conditions led to some cracking golf, and in the end Ros McDonald and Jacinta Stanley were crowned champions in a three way countback to Anita Edmondson and Sally Toppin, and Helen Baker and Val Billsborough after all three teams finished nine over.

The Lady Golfers also used the day to give a fellow cancer charity a much needed boost as well.

Gunnedah can Assist president Kate Knight and Secretary Linda Lee were on hand to pick up a cheque for almost $1400 from the Ladies Open day a few weeks ago.

“We always like to stick to local charities where we know the money stays in the local community, and Can Assist do a wonderful job helping people,” Mrs Lorimer said.

Following the golf the Pink Ribbon Day moved into the Golf Club for a pink afternoon tea and refreshments.
