Mr Cobb recently purchased the business from Mark Tudgey, who first opened the doors on May 14 1987, but is now taking a step back to spend some more time with his young son Harry.
For Mr Cobb, who relocated from Moree three years ago to be with his family, the move is an exciting step from his former mobile mechanic business, and he is looking forward to expanding from exhausts and into 4 wheel drives.
“I will still be doing custom exhausts, but will also be focusing on 4WD upgrades and accessory fit-outs, he said.
“The dealerships do a bit but there is no where local that specialises in it so hopefully I can get some new local customers in who would have been going to Tamworth to get the work done.”
While Mr Tudgey will miss the place he is still unsure of exactly how it will feel to walk out the door the final time, after hanging around for the past fortnight to assist Mr Cobb moving in.
“I am sure it will be a bit of a shock to the system, but I am not sure how I will feel yet,” he said.
“I am looking forward to spending some more time with my young bloke before he starts school next year.”
“I would like to thank all my customers and the wonderful township of Gunnedah for supporting my business, and I am sure Matt’s experience and new ideas will only compliment the business.”
