Operation Merrett is targeting all aspects of unsafe and illegal driving such as drink-driving, speeding and driving while fatigued.
As part of the operation, police will be conducting random breath testing, random drug testing and random licence checks throughout the state.

A police spokesperson told The Namoi Valley Independent motorists are advised not to practice illegal behavior while driving.
“The operation is still ongoing,” the spokesperson said.
“Operation is an all encompassing operation targeted at all sorts of illegal and dangerous driving such as speeding, using a mobile phone while driving and unlicensed driving.
“As part of the operation, police will continue to conduct random drug and breath testing as well as random licence checks.”
