Auskick sessions will kick-start in Gunnedah this Friday at Wolseley Oval.
The Auskick program is designed for boys and girls aged between 5-12 years.
The program focuses on being a fun gross motor skill development program while also teaching the basic skills of footy.
Gunnedah Bulldogs footballer Hamish Russell will be running the weekly sessions.
“I've put my hand up to run Auskick,” Russell said.
“My daughter’s been following me play for the Gunnedah Bulldogs and she’s become very interested so I thought to give her a crack at footy, I’ll get the Auskick going.”
The sessions will be run each Friday at 4pm throughout May and June.
They will run for roughly one and a half hours and will be followed by a barbecue.
Russell said the sessions were open to all young kids.
“We don’t discriminate against anyone. You can come from a soccer or a rugby background, we don’t mind,” Russell said.
“My son George is going to be playing Auskick on a Friday, soccer on a Saturday and rugby on a Sunday.”
Every registered participant will receive their own personalised Auskick backpack which comes with a football, football cards, a pump and more.
All participants will also get the chance to play at the SCG.
The Auskick kids are eligible to play on the SCG at half-time during the Swans v Suns match July 21.
The cost for the term is $63 and registrations can be made at AFLAuskick.com.au.
Participants can also use their active kids vouchers to pay for their registration.
