Michael Weatherall (2), Nik Hobdan and Nathan Miller all scored tries for the Shane Rampling-coached Boggabri Kangaroos in their trial win over Narrabri.
Jacob Nicholls crossed twice for the Blues, who will play Gunnedah on April 28 in the first round of the Group 4 season while Boggabri tackle Kootingal on their Jubilee Park home ground in round one.
The tight 22-20 win bodes well for the Kangaroos as the Group 4 season fast approaches.
A fortnight ago, Rampling told Fairfax Media how big a challenge the step up to first grade would be.
“I know it is a big step for us at Boggy. It’s a small-community club never run in first division,” Rampling said.
“But we’re embracing the challenge and we’re looking forward to it.”
The Boggabri under 18s and ladies league tag sides also had hit-outs with league tag getting up and the 18s going down.
