THE Werris Creek RSL Sub-Branch has won a small grant to enable the construction of a service roll for the names of more than 920 people from Werris Creek who served.
Sub-Branch Secretary Paul Moules said the roll would be constructed on parkland on the opposite side of Single Street to the town’s War Memorial.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the $2,200 for the Sub-Branch is one of 21 projects under the Community War Memorials Fund (CWMF).
“War Memorials have significant heritage value and meaning for local communities,” he said.
“As we commemorate the Centenary of the Armistice this year, it is important that we all understand the sacrifices made during the First World War.”
