The new exhibition was opened at Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery with about 50 people turning out to view more than 50 works.
Arctic Inspirations and More features Sydney-based print makers Margaret Vickers and Bernhardine Mueller and 14 local printmakers including Anne Pickett and Eileen Mair. Prints created by the late Pat Rowley were also included in the collection.
Margaret Vickers said there was a “genuine interest” in her works were inspired by global warming and a visit to the Arctic in 2017.
“I thought the opening night was fantastic. There was a warmth from the crowd,” she said.
“The message is just resonating with everyone.”
Gunnedah artist Anne Knight attended the opening and said the exhibition was "superb”.
“We’re very lucky to have work of that quality in Gunnedah,” she said.
Ms Vickers ran a workshop for Gunnedah South Public School students, which was well received, and held an artist talk on Tuesday.
Fellow exhibitor Bernhardine Mueller also ran workshops over the weekend and said she was thankful to Gunnedah Shire Council’s arts and cultural officer Lauren Mackley for organising the exhibition.
Ms Mueller has been visiting Gunnedah for 18 years to run printmaking workshops and caught up with many of her past students at the exhibition. Like Ms Vickers, she captures nature in her prints.
“I produce work that tells a story of the country,” she said.
Arctic Inspirations and More is on show until April 8.
