Sacred Heart School sent nine swimmers off to a zone carnival recently. Tom Watt, Jack Rees, Kayleigh Eather, Claire Watt, Darcy Moseley, Daniel Waters, Luke Grace-Hendrie, Sienna Woods and Miah Moseley swam extremely well against some stiff competition. Hallie Thomson and Noah Rigelsford qualified but were unable to attend.
The PP5 Relay team placed second and will now travel to Sydney to compete in the Polding Trials on March 21.
Sacred Heart’s new leaders Genevieve Maunder and Scarlett Whelan (school captains), Noah Rigelsford and Sienna Woods (house captains), and Himaja Yerrapureddy, Cameron Valks and Chantelle Burge (student representative council) were formally inducted at the opening school year mass last Wednesday. The school was proud of the way the students conducted themselves with the presenting of the gifts and reading the prayers of the faithful. The students have great leadership qualities and the staff are certain that they will perform their roles with honour and respect.
Boggabri Public School attended the recent zone swimming carnival and Lucy Bomford was named runner-up junior girl champion. At the school’s own carnival, Zachary Devine was junior boy champion, Lucy Bomford was junior girl champion, Alfred Priestley was the 11 years boy champion, Lily Clancy was the 11 years girl champion, Angus Devine was senior boy champion and Fynlay Morley was 13 years boy champion and Byle Grover was senior girl champion.
Boggabri Pony Club members have hit the ground running for 2018, battling the heat while they put on their riding helmets and polish up their riding boots to head out and compete against the region’s best.
In late February, Emma Rose and Jess McKechnie loaded up their trusted horses to make the long travel to Tamworth’s show jumping and sporting day.
The riders had a fantastic day with their horses competing all throughout the day.
Results for Emma and her young horse Dani Boii: second in associate pair of riders, third in associate pleasure hack and fifth in handler class.
Results for Jess and her horse Saddler: first in bend race, first in running T, second in mug race, third in flags, third in barrels, which resulted in Jess receiving highest point score in her age group.
