District president Judy Sills welcomed 10 of the 11 district clubs as the bowlers participated in a two bowl triples sets-play event.
Though conditions were hot, the players enjoyed this newer format of play. However, with player welfare a major concern it was decided to finalise the event following an enjoyable lunch.
Winners of the day were Irene Ward (Kootingal), June Morrison (Gunnedah) and Di Kelly (West Tamworth).
Judy Stephens (South Tamworth), Marlene Antaw (Gunnedah) and Narelle Casson (North Tamworth) were runners-up.
Margo Marshall, Jean Potter, Pam Turner, Sue Kent and Barbara Cullen won 100 club prizes with district vice president Elaine Radcliffe taking home the raffle.
The district pennant competition commenced on February 20 with grade four being played at Gunnedah and West Tamworth. Grade three commence their competition on March 6 at Kootingal.
Entries for the state singles, senior and open pairs, triples, senior and open fours close March 23.
Nominations and entry fees of $7 per player, per event must be with district match committee chair Veronica Bruce by this date.
