Colin Small said his daughter Jodi submitted the paperwork to the NSW Department of Primary Industries’ (DPI) on Tuesday morning.
“The DPI sent us a pre-application of what was wrong before and it’s gone in today at half past 10 to the DPI and we should hear back from them in a couple of weeks for an application,” Mr Small said.
“It was all the things we had to update on like the fencing and the feed and that. Jodi had to take photos of everything we updated and write a story with it.
“They had to go in and be addressed by the DPI and if they’re happy with that, then they’ll come out to do an inspection and then if they’re happy, we can put in an application to go back out to publicly exhibit."
The park was closed by the DPI in April 2017. Mr Small said Jodi had been on the phone to the DPI and they’ve been “real helpful”.
“If we do everything by the book and satisfy the DPI, we can open again,” Mr Small said.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service granted the park a Native Animal Keeper Licence in November 2017 and Mr Small said it was in place until April 30.
Mr Small said the park was in desperate need of volunteers to keep up with all the tasks.
“We do need volunteers to help in the park through the week,” he said.
“We seem to be getting people to come out for one day and that’s about it.”
To volunteer, phone Waterways Wildlife Park on 6742 1826.
