WILD weather lashed the Gunnedah area on Monday afternoon bringing strong winds, thunder, lightning and rain. Minor cases of fallen tree limbs and damaging winds effected the greater Gunnedah region for most of Monday afternoon and evening.

The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 15mm of rain for Gunnedah after issuing a severe weather warning earlier in the day.
The 15mm of rain was the first recorded rainfall for Gunnedah since February 2 when the area received just 8mm bringing Gunnedah’s February total to 24mm of rain so far.
Other areas such as Carroll and Wean received higher rainfall numbers with reports of some areas receiving as much as 35mm of rain.
February has been consistently hot throughout the Gunnedah area with BOM recording an average daily maximum of 36 degrees.
More rain is forecast for Gunnedah over the coming weekend with BOM predicting a 60 per cent chance of rain on Saturday, 90 per cent chance of five to 15mm of rain on Sunday.
