Albion take an early lead over Kookaburras in two-dayer | Photos

Albion have cruised to first innings points against Kookaburras in their two-day match in the Gunnedah District Cricket Association first grade competition.

Bowling first, it took Albion 19 overs to claim a wicket and another six to claim the second but from there the rest of the batting lineup was cleaned up in just another 15 overs.

Kookaburras’ openers Billy Jupp (15) and Tim Kelly (7) saw out the opening spells of Brad Jenkinson (0-13) and Luke Ryan (0-8) who gave away nothing.

Then Andrew Darley (3-10) was brought into the attack to make an immediate impact.

He removed both openers as Cameron Milne (15) made a contribution.

From there, Vinnie Winsor (13*) was the only other batsman to pass into double figures.

Hayden Baker (4-2) was equally destructive and miserly with the ball to lead the way for Albion in bowling out Kookaburras for 62.

Albion weren’t on top right from ball one as Kookaburras captain Shane Riordan (2-31) reduced Albion to 2-31.

From there it was mainly one way traffic as Albion captain Andy Mack (58), Jenkinson (51*) and Baker (30) went about their business.

By the end of the day’s play, Albion had pushed their way to 4-164 after batting for 39 overs.

Milne (1-30) and Winsor (1-21) took the other wickets for Kookaburras.

Jenkinson and youngster Zac Clarke (8*) finished the day out in the middle as the not out batsmen.

The match will continue this Saturday at Kitchener Park.
