Come along to the library at 10.30am Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for children aged up to seven years, and at 3.30pm for older children up to 12 years to engage in the Game On! - fun and games. Complete the Game on! icon track challenge by collecting your entry sheet at the desk, and then trying to find and identify all the game icons scattered throughout the Library! When the children have completed the track, they can select a prize from the goody box.
In keeping with the Australia Day theme, the library has added a lot of new books to the shelves by Australian authors, or stories that are set in Australia.
Willow Tree Bend by Kaye Dobbe tells the story of “a scandal from the past, a daughter’s search for the truth”. Beneath the Parisian Skies by Alli Sinclair is the story of “an Australian woman’s journey of discovery, a mysterious family legacy, a quest for the truth”. There’s also Taboo by prize-winning author Kim Scott; The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club by Sophie Green; The Land of the Golden Wattle by J. H. Fletcher; and The Tea Gardens by the ever-popular Fiona McIntosh.
Children’s books added to the collection include the counting book One Woolly Wombat; and five popular and well-loved books donated to the library by Paint the Town REaD, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie’s Sleepover, The Man from Snowy River, There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Thong, Sheep on the Beach, and Waltzing Matilda.
If you know of a good book that would be enjoyed by other library users, don’t hesitate to suggest the title. Just ask the library staff for a suggestion form to fill out, and if the title meets the selection criteria, it will be added to the collection.
See you soon at the library.
