Gunnedah Rural Museum undertook the reconstruction of a model railway at the museum after Don McDonagh donated the set following a fire in 2014.
The iconic railway has been a special part of Gunnedah since 1985. Over the years, the railway had grown, with iconic buildings and depictions of Gunnedah added for the enjoyment of thousands of locals and visitor.
With assistance of a number of Gunnedah organisations and businesses, the volunteers of the Gunnedah Rural Museum led by Owen Tydd, Jim Noon and Bill O’Gorman, restored the rolling stock and buildings of Gunnedah, completing the model railway display.
This excellent initiative has restored this iconic scene to Gunnedah to be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike for many years to come.
