The NSW Government initiative, Come Play Summer Pilot Program, will be trialled at the school from 8am-6pm from December 23 to the end of the holidays in late January.
Principal Sharne Turpin said the school is excited to participate in this program and to share its facilities with supportive community members.
“We have fantastic playground equipment and beautiful grassed areas that families will enjoy using,” she said.
The school is one of 42 to be chosen as trial site.
“GS Kidd School is such a valuable asset to our local community and the students love using the space, so instead of locking the gate this summer, the trial program will share the space and allow people to exercise and play at their local school over the summer holiday period,” Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said.
“The added bonus is GS Kidd School will receive a $15,000 grant to help upgrade their facilities for community and school use.”
Ms Turpin said the finances would be helpful to the school.
“The grant will be used to purchase more fixed playground equipment for our students and future ‘Summer Fun’ programs,” Ms Turpin said.
