The service, hosted by the Gunnedah RSL Sub-Branch, will remember the 20,000 Australians who served in the 8th division during World War Two and those who did not return.
December 9 marks the 75th anniversary of the imprisonment of the division by the Japanese in Singapore in 1942.
The service will also acknowledge the 60th anniversary of the naming of Gunnedah’s Eighth Division Memorial Avenue which was unveiled in 1957.
Starting at 10.40am, at the site of the Gunnedah Eighth Division Memorial on Acacia Street, Gunnedah RSL Sub-Branch president Peter Kannengiesser will lead the service.
The service will include a minutes silence at 11am.
