On Thursday, media and members of local councils went behind-the-scenes to take a first-hand look at some of the work done at the Maules Creek mine.
Hosted by Whitehaven Coal CEO and managing director Paul Flynn, visitors took a tour of the mine’s control centre and looked out over the coal pit.
The mine tour was followed by a visit to the site of the proposed Vickery extension project before finishing up at Whitehaven Gunnedah office where the company announced that it will excise a portion of land known as ‘Blue Vale’ from the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for its Vickery Extension Project.
