The Gunnedah CBD will be transformed into a Christmas fair ground on Friday.
Conadilly Street will be closed to traffic between McDonald’s and Gunnedah Town Hall from 5pm-9pm for the Spirit of Christmas Fair.
Hosted by the Gunnedah and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Retail Precinct Committee, the annual event will have something for everyone with a kids zone run by Gunnedah Preschool, busking, novelty games, stalls and fashion parades.
Gunnedah Youth Council will run a dessert bar, with all proceeds to go to the Gunnedah Community Scholarship Fund. A highlight of the evening will be a 40-minute show and workshop by balloon artist Matt Fulloon.
The committee is urging sporting teams and clubs to sign-up for the tug-o-war challenge, with the winner to take home $500. To get involved, phone the Old Bank Gallery on 6742 3944.
Buskers are also in demand, with local talent of all ages invited to sign-up for a spot in the CBD and compete for a People’s Choice Award. First place will receive $300, second place will receive $150 and third place will receive $50. Entry forms can be collected from Riley’s, the Old Bank Gallery, Willow & Fli and Hennessy Real Estate and must be returned as soon as possible.
Locals will have the chance to vote for their favourite entry in the Harvey Norman Photography Competition. The photos will be on display in the former Sassy Willa store with voting between 6pm-8:30pm on Friday night.
For those who would like to enter photos, head to Harvey Norman with a USB and they will be printed and mounted free of charge. First prize is $300, second prize is $150 and third prize is $50.
PRAMS will be running a dummy spit competition outside WA Baxter and Co throughout the evening. Participants can purchase a dummy for $5 and test their skills to compete for a first prize of $100, second prize of $50 and third prize of $25.
The ShopGunnedah promotion winner and Best Xmas Decorated Shop Front winner will be announced at the fair.
