Overall the quality of the offering was good, however there were some plainer lots, mostly coming from areas that have missed the rain. All the usual processors and feedlotters participated, while there were some extra restocker orders.
Restocker demand for light weight cattle was strong resulting in both weaner and yearling steers selling to dearer trends. A small number of very light weaner steers showing a significant gain.
Feeder steers saw a firm to cheaper trend with the heavy weights most affected, they were as much as 9c/kg cheaper. Demand for yearling heifers to feed was strong with trends mostly firm.

There were odd sales 1c to 2c/kg dearer. There was little trade competition on the heavier heifers with only those not deemed suitable to feed being purchased. The local butchers’ orders bought a few of the lighter weights with the market slightly cheaper.
Well finished heavy grown steers met with mixed results, the heaviest weight class remained firm, while those between 500-600kg were as much as 11c/kg cheaper to process. Heavy feeders over 500kg saw a firm to slightly cheaper market trend. The cow market saw the greatest decline with well finished heavy weight cows 7c to 17c/kg cheaper.
