Kookaburras celebrate a wicket before rain washed out cricket the next week.

While Gunnedah’s representative sides got their seasons off the ground on the weekend, there wasn’t as much luck in the local competition as the weather saw Saturday’s Gunnedah District Cricket Association matches called off.

The cancelled games mean both Albion and Court House remain without a loss this season while Kookaburras and Mornington are still searching for their first win.

The last time these two match-ups were scheduled to take place was in the third round of the one day competition which was also washed out.

The Court House-Albion match was right in the balance after the first day.

Albion sat precariously at 4-44 with Brad Jenkinson (14*) and Will Maggs (1*) at the crease chasing Court House’s innings of 136.

Cameron Milne had given Kookaburras the upper hand with a unbeaten half-century but two late wickets had brought Mornington back into the game. Kookaburras finished the day on 2-72 chasing 159.
