In the early hours of Monday morning, both Movies Plus and Kinfolk Cafe were the targets of attempted burglary.
Movies Plus was the first target having their front window broken at around 1am.
Kinfolk Cafe was next as their front window was smashed in and an iPad and food products stolen.
Co-Owner of Kinfolk Cafe Jenna Patterson said the break-and-enter came as a shock.
“I arrived at work at about 4.30am and found glass everywhere,” Ms Patterson said.
“It really was quite a shock to be honest, we are just a locally-run business trying to make a go of it and I can’t understand why anyone would want to do this.”
Ms Patterson praised the quick response and help of local police.
“The Gunnedah police were very quick on the scene,” she said.
“They have provided great support and hopefully they can help catch whoever’s involved.”
Sergeant Terry Melville from Gunnedah police said investigations into the incidents are on-going.
“Inquires are continuing at the moment,” Sergeant Melville said.
“Anybody with information regarding these incidents should call 000, the Gunnedah Police Station or Crime Stoppers.”
Sergent Melville also said it was too early to tell if the incidents are related.
The Gunnedah PCYC was twice the victim of vandals over the weekend.
The first incident occurred on Thursday night when a rock was thrown through the gym window.
Following the initial incident, a glass bottle was thrown through the men’s changing room window on Saturday night.
Andrew Foreman from the Gunnedah PCYC said the vandalism is heartless.
“This is just pure vandalism,” Mr Foreman said.
“The vandalism and the cost of the vandalism is just taking away funds that we could be using to help the community.”
Mr Foreman said the PCYC had reported the incidents to police.
“The police are investigating the incidents and we hopefully find out who did it.
“If anyone knows anything or saw anything I urge them to bring that information to the police.”
Sergent Melville said investigations into the vandalism are continuing.
“Investigations into these incidents are continuing,” Sergeant Melville said.
“The PCYC is a community resource and these kinds of acts are very disappointing.
“If anybody has any information we urge them to contact us.”
Mr Foreman is also offering to help in rehabilitation if required.
“If the reason for this vandalism is boredom we here at the PCYC are happy to help,” he said.
“If you’ve got nothing to do and you’re bored, don’t throw rocks through windows, come see us here at the PCYC we have plenty of activities you can do that’s not going to cause trouble around town.”
“That’s what we are here for, to support young people around town.”
