Around $17,000 was raised on Friday night, with donations bringing the figure up to about $18,000.
P&C member Lacey Swain said hundreds flocked to the school for novelty games, rides, fair food, show bags and more.
“We were just so surprised at the crowd,” she said.
“It was a great atmosphere. There were lots of families having a night out; lots of families from the school and other families.”
The fete is only run every two years but it came back with a bang.
“It was great to see the fete up and going again,” Ms Swain said.
“This is the best it’s gone for a number of years.
“Lots of people were saying how great it was to see it happen again and what nice weather we had and so many people coming through the gates.”
Ms Swain said the P&C was thankful for the assistance, with about 50 volunteers involved, including teachers and retired employees John Flannerley and Donna Standford.
“I think with south school we always get such great support,” she said.
“We’re grateful for all the donations ... from local businesses.”
