At about 7.15pm on Monday, police, Fire and Rescue NSW and ambulance paramedics were called to the scene after two cars collided head-on.
Police will allege to one car being on the wrong side of the road.
Two adults and three children were treated by paramedics at the scene and suffered only minor injuries.
They were not transported from the scene.
Police will allege the driver of one of the cars veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided with the other vehicle.
The driver failed a roadside breath test and was taken to Gunnedah Police Station
The driver allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.129 and was charged with mid-range PCA and had their licence suspended on the spot.
The driver will front court at a later date.
Investigations into the crash are continuing.
