Members of the Gunnedah community are being encouraged to take stand against violence with a touch football gala day at the Gunnedah Rugby Park on November 25.
The annual gala day fundraiser will be run in support of National White Ribbon Day to raise awareness about domestic violence.
Many local support organisations are teaming up to host the event including, Gunnedah Family Support Homebase, Healthwise New England North West, GoCo, TFSS Reconnect, Flourish Mental Health and Well-Being Service and Winanga-Li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre.
Gunnedah Family Support Homebase team leader Jess Blair said the event was for everyone to enjoy.
“Everyone is welcome to join in this event not just for Gunnedah but for all communities and people affected by domestic violence around Australia,” Ms Blair said.
“We want people to know that this violence is unacceptable, it’s never the victims fault, help is always available and if you see something you should definitely say something.”
The gala day will include a number of non-competitive touch football games with a range of fun activities during breaks.
Registrations must be received by November 6 and cost $120 per team of 10 to 14 players. Each team must also have a minimum of four kids aged 12 and under.
To register a team contact Emma at Healthwise on 6742 36 33.
