Catching up with Boggabri Public School, Boggabri Pony Club and Sacred Heart Primary School

On the weekend, Boggabri Pony Club competed in the Twilight Open Gymkhana, which was hosted by Narrabri Performance Horse Association.

Eight families travelled from Boggabri to Narrabri for the entertaining day and night events.

The event was one of only a few in the region to hold a 'twilight' gymkhana, which sees riders compete in events under lights. The day was open to all ages so many adults competed as well, with 99 riders competing overall.

Meanwhile, Boggabri Public School students have been learning instruments and Sacred Heart Primary School students competed in the Armidale Diocesan Brain Olympia Competition in the Narrabri Cluster.

Students were chosen from Years 4, 5 & 6 to participate in this event, which included general knowledge (trivia-style questions), public speaking, drama and problem solving.

They competed against nine other teams from Narrabri, Gunnedah, Moree, Walgett and Wee Waa.

At the end of the day, Sacred Heart was announced as the winner of the small schools section. The students will now travel back to Narrabri on November 7 to compete in the final.

At the conclusion of the day's competition, the Mary MacKillop trophy and medals will be presented to the school with the most points. The Small Schools' Trophy will be awarded to the school with the highest points with a student population of less than 100.

The students are busy brushing up on their general knowledge, public speaking and drama skills in anticipation for the final. They are also looking foward to meeting many of the students from different schools in the diocese.
