Beasley had been focusing on his batting after fracturing the top of his tibia this year and had shelved his fast bowling for the time being.

Ahead of Court House’s two-day clash against Kookaburras at Wolseley Park on Saturday, Beasley’s father, Ross, revealed the 16-year-old refractured the leg while playing soccer at Carinya Christian School in Tamworth.

“He was playing sport at school and he felt a bit of pain in it,” Ross said.

“We had him in emergency at Gunnedah [Hospital] and they took an X-ray and found the fracture had moved. They seem to think it might have been the case that he went back [to sport] too early.

“We did everything the surgeons’ advised. It’s just one of those things. No one is to blame in any shape or form.”

The original injury was caused by what Ross called a “freak” incident when the teen did a lay-up playing basketball. He was operated on in April.

Ross admitted that his son had been “knocked about emotionally” but he expected him to rebound from the experience mentally tougher.

“You have to understand that he’s a 16-year-old boy and he’s very keen to get back into it,” Ross said. “We just need to be patient and make sure his leg is properly healed.”

He added: “He’s got a fair bit of talent. He’s very keen [about cricket]. This is just a minor blip on his career.

“He’ll be back. We’ll just have to take it a bit slower this time and get him 100 per cent fit.”

Court House has opened the season with two one-day wins, including a last-start victory over Mornington that was secured without Beasley’s services. He reinjured his leg the day before the match.

Kookaburras are yet to win this season.
