The 11-year-old is playing an orphan in Tamworth Musical Society’s production of Annie, with her first performance on Saturday.
Olivia is part of the “red cast” for the production and will take up the role of Tessie, a friend of the main character, Annie.
“She’s a cry baby but I like her,” Olivia said.
The youngster said she will be singing, dancing and acting in six peformances all the way up to closing night on November 11.
Olivia tried out for the production in June and a week later, she found out she had been chosen.
The Gunnedah South Public School student has been training in music, singing and acting for a number of years at Gunnedah Conservatorium and Totally Dance Studios. Though she has performed in musicals before, Annie marks Olivia’s first major role.
The youngster said she likes to get involved and enjoys performing.
“Seeing the stage for the first time [on Sunday] was really fun,” she said.
“It’s fun performing but I’ve also made new friends.
“I think I’ll keep in touch with them afterwards.”
Olivia will be busy this week with a dress rehearsal on Monday and Wednesday night and a sing-through on Thursday night.
She said she was keen to be involved in more musicals in the future.
